Kilotone

Kilotone is a drum & bass duo born in Auckland, New Zealand bringing
100% fresh, original, darkside dnb action to every encounter.
We perform live and only play our own material.

The only constant is change

Hey Internet,
We have been making some changes on Kilotone.com as such we are trialling a "name your price" system for our releases. There is no minimum price at the moment so everyone can still get access to our music. However if you value our work please keep in mind we are totally independent and don't have a PR team or record label behind us. We are really grateful for any support that helps us continue to make the music we love.

1/12/09 - Don't deal with Mindocracy Recordings!

At least that's what we have been hearing, more then one artist has not been paid for their tunes and even worse they have ripped tunes off other artists myspace accounts and sent them to bigger/real labels passing it off as there own. While we have not dealt with these guys ourselves (and wont) we wanted to post this as a warning to other producers. Its hard enough for people coming up as it is with out this kind of BS.

6/09/09 - We are back

After having a few issuses (having our whole site wiped) we are back. Still sorting out a few bits on the new server so if somethings not working drop us a note in the shoutbox.

In the mean time here is a sneak peak as to whats in store for Throwing Hammers Vol.3

WHAKAKOTAHI RANGATAHI

(YOUTH UNITE)

Relentless beats, 100% original flows and a positive message to the youth of New Zealand describe WHAKAKOTAHI RANGATAHI, the latest dance floor damaging offering by maitreya.

Teaming up once again with New Zealand Drum n Bass masters KILOTONE, maitreya delivers another ground-breaking song in the tradition of his Maioha Silver Scroll nominated WAITAHA. It's Te Reo 101 time as maitreya masterfully weaves together traditional moteatea rhythms with his own hypnotic Maori and English flows. The beats are Bad, the rhymes are Banana's and the message is clear... WHAKAKOTAHI RANGATAHI, Youth Unite is an inspiring and powerful song of unity delivered by an artist on the cutting edge of his times.

08/01/09 - Attention New Zealand, Dinosaurs writing laws

"Next month, New Zealand is scheduled to implement Section 92 of the Copyright Amendment Act. The controversial act provides 'Guilt Upon Accusation,' which means that if a file-sharer is simply accused of copyright infringement he/she will be punished with summary Internet disconnection. Unlike most laws, this one has no appeal process and no punishment for false accusation, because they were removed after public consultation. The ISPs are up in arms and now artists are taking a stand for fair copyright."

The way I see it internet has become a service just like power or water. People depend upon it not just for vital communication but financially too. Many people work and run business on the net, to cut people off based on accusation alone is completely ridiculous.
